Cranesbill is Used

Geranium short plant to 0,5 meters, with very fragrant, deeply dissected, green and red leaves, small pinkish flowers and fruits are oblong pointed, which resemble bill stork. Other species are used in traditional medicine and as gardening plants are G. maculatum (American geranium), G. Dissectum (English geranium) and blood-red (bloody geranium). Geranium nepalerise and G. wailichianum used for dyes and tanning.

Latin: Geranium robertianum

Common Name: Herb Robert, Robert Erba, herb Robert (French), geranium robertin, Ruprechtskraut (German), czcuta Rossa (Italian).

Origin

Originating in Europe and Asia, Geranium has been naturalized in North and South America (G. robertianum), Central, Eastern and North America (G. maculatuni).

Actions

Anti-inflammatory, anti-diarrhea.

PROPERTIES AND USES

Geranium is traditionally used to treat urinary tract infections and mild diarrhea. It is also used externally as an astringent to treat slow healing wounds, eczema and inflammation of the mucous membrane. Geranium is also used to treat stomach ulcers, heavy menstrual bleeding, and IBS (IBS). Fresh rhizomes with G.robertianum use homeopathic practitioners.
